Day 4: Onboard Sleeper Train – Nile Cruise (Aswan High Dam, Temple of Philae)

Enjoy breakfast onboard the train and enjoy the journey to Aswan. A WishClicknGo representative will meet you at the Aswan Railway Station and escort you to the embarkation point of your Nile Cruise. Once onboard the Nile Cruise ship, proceed to your cabins to set your luggage and settle down for a wonderful 4-Days 3-Nights Nile Cruise.

One of the first stops you make on this cruise will be for a guided tour of Aswan’s attractions; visit the Aswan High Dam, one of the world’s largest dams and an engineering marvel, especially for 1960s when it was built. 18 Giza Pyramids could have been built with the stones used to build the dam. Once constructed, the dam resulted in the world’s largest manmade artificial lake – Lake Nasser.

The next stop is at the Temple of Philae, a temple in an island that once stood at the place where Aswan High Dam is located. The temple was dismantled and rebuilt brick-by-brick at its present location on Agilkia Island after the Aswan Lower Dan waters submerged it. Dedicated to Goddess Isis, the Egyptian Temple complex is includes the Temple of Emperor Hadrian, Temple of Hathor, Trajan’s Kiosk and many other architectural, religious and historical landmarks and is one of the most famous attractions of Aswan.

Dinner and Overnight onboard the cruise ship

Day 5: Nile Cruise (Kom Ombo Temple, Temple of Edfu)

Enjoy breakfast onboard the cruise ship, even as it continues sailing on the Nile to Luxor. En-route, visit the Kom Ombo Temple, a unique double-temple with symmetrical temple areas built for two Egyptian Gods – Crocodile God Sobek and the Falcon God Haroeris along with their consorts and offspring. Not much remains of these 2nd Century temples as they faced destructive forces of the Nile, the Christian Copts who used the place as a church and later builders, who scavenged the stones for their own projects.

The next stop is at the Temple of Edfu, the best-preserved cult temple in Egypt and the second largest. Dedicated to God Horus, the Temple of Edfu is famed for its colossal statue of Horus as a falcon, a Nectanebo II granite shrine and exquisite reliefs depicting Egypt’s ancient festivals and scenes from Horus’ life.

Dinner and Overnight onboard the cruise ship

Day 6: Nile Cruise (Luxor West Bank Tour)

Enjoy breakfast onboard your cruise boat. The Nile cruise continues on to Luxor, where you set out explore attractions such as The Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut (or Hatchepsut) Temple, the Colossi of Memnon on the West Bank.

Explore the opulent tombs of Egyptian Pharaohs and nobles at the Valley of the Kings; this valley is home to over 63 tombs – including the Tomb of King Tutankhamen. Although the treasures accompanying the mummies were robbed back in antiquity, the chambers in themselves are opulent enough with magnificent paintings and other features revealing the original glory of the tombs.

The next stop is at the Hatshepsut (or Hatchepsut) Temple, one of the most striking monuments in this part of Egypt. Hatshepsut was a female pharaoh who posed as a male to gain the throne; get an insight into her role in Egypt’s development and rise of trade, with a tour of her temple, built for her posthumous worship. Like in most Egyptian temples, the walls and colonnades of the temple boast reliefs depicting scenes from the Pharaohs life.

The last stop is at the Colossi of Memnon, two massive 1350 BC stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that stood guard to the Amenhotep’s Memorial Temple, a temple that was once the largest and most opulent temple in Egypt. Pharaoh Amenhotep III was worshipped as God-on-earth in this temple, even before he departed from the world. Although the temple is very much in ruins and the statues themselves are falling victims to the ravages of the time, they still give a glimpse into the temple’s glory in its heyday.
